In many respects, Swift already is a rock star. Her recent singles "Love Story" and "You Belong with Me" were country chart-toppers that also crossed over to become huge pop hits. Swift's first headlining tour is a smash. (Her Allstate Arena shows tonight and Saturday night are sold out.) She sold out New York's Madison Square Garden, and John Mayer joined her onstage for a sold-out gig at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Later this month, Swift will go to Las Vegas for a benefit hosted by Justin Timberlake, and she'll perform alongside such stars as R&B singer Alicia Keys and rapper Snoop Dogg.

"My ultimate career goal is to establish myself as someone who is not predictable," Taylor Swift recently told a panel of journalists.
Thanks to two multiplatinum albums, Swift was pretty famous before the MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 13 and "the Kanye West incident." By the following morning, everyone in America knew her name.
During a recent conference call with journalists, Swift refused to answer any questions related to the West episode. But that was the only topic off limits. In a frank and far-ranging conversation, Swift hinted that her music would evolve, possibly away from country.
"My ultimate career goal is to establish myself as someone who is not predictable," Swift said. "There are a few artists that are always throwing out a curveball, and when you hear they're coming out with something new, you don't know what it's going to sound like. I would like to keep on making decisions that cement me in people's minds as someone who is not going to make the same musical decisions over and over again. As my life changes, so will my music."
